Abram Falls

The Abrams Falls Trail starts at Cades Cove so try to schedule your hike for non-peak times in the park. If you don't the ride through Cades Cove to the trailhead will seem to take forever. The hike is along Abrams Creek for 2.5 miles (5 miles round trip) to Abrams Falls. It is one of the most popular hikes in the park and is considered a moderate hike.

Although Abrams Falls is only 20 feet high, the large volume of water rushing over the cliff more than makes up for its lack of height. In fact, Abrams Falls is the most voluminous waterfall in the park. The long, deep pool at its base is very picturesque; however, due to strong currents and an undertow, swimming here is extremely dangerous.

You can also hike to Abrams Falls from the Abrams Creek Ranger Station. This hike is about 12 miles round trip to the falls and is difficult. From the Ranger station take Cooper Road Trail to Little Bottoms Trail to Abrams Creek Trail to the Falls. The 1.7 miles on Abrams Creek Trail is through a spectacular gorge.
