Depart at 8:00 a.m. from the Cooper Visitor Center

House Mountain (1 hour 10 minute drive)
Distance: Approximately 4 miles
Elevation Gain: Approximately 1000 ft.
Rating: Easy to moderate

The steep slopes of House Mountain are heavily wooded and possess a unique combination of scenic views, rock outcrops, and a variety of bird and plant life. The 2,100-foot crest of House Mountain provides significant vistas where visitors may scan the parallel ranges of the Unakas and Cumberlands some 30 miles away, or look northeast at the adjacent Clinch Mountain.

Hiking boots and hiking stick(s) are recommended. Bring ample water and a trail snack.
Driving Directions from Tellico Village to House Mountain:
1 Head northeast on Chota Rd toward Tellico Parkway 0.4 m
2 Turn left at Tellico Pkwy 6.8 m
3 Take the US-321 ramp toward Lenoir City 0.3 m
4 Merge onto US-321 4.3 m
5 Turn right to merge onto I-75 N 20 mi
6 Continue onto I-40 E 7.3 m
7 Take exit 392 to merge onto Rutledge Pike/US-11W North. Continue to follow US-11W North 10.4 mi
8 Turn left at Idumea Rd (look for House Mountain State Park sign on right) 0.6 m
9 Take the 1st left onto Hogskin Rd
The parking area will be on the right 0.7 m
