Hike - Grapeyard Ridge Trail - March 12, 2011

Depart at 8:00 am from the Cooper Visitors Center
Grapeyard Ridge Trail (1.75 hour drive)
Distance: 7.6 miles
Elevation Gain: Approximately 1700 feet East to West, 1000 feet West to East
Rating: Moderate

This hike will be either a shuttle or a key swap provided the Roaring Fork Motor Trail is open as scheduled.  The trail goes between the Roaring Fork Motor Trail and Greenbriar Road, and passes the remains of a steam engine originally intended for sawing lumber.  There is a cemetery between the engine and Greenbrier Road.  Dolly Parton's grandfather, Walter Parton lived near the creek in that same area.

Hiking boots and hiking stick(s) are recommended.  Bring ample water and a trail lunch.
Directions will be provided the morning of the hikes.  Car-pooling is recommended and will be set up the morning of the hikes. Passengers are asked to contribute $5 to the driver to help cover gas etc.
