Hike - Fodderstack Ridge Trail - Fri., Feb.24, 2012

Depart at 8:00 a.m. from the Cooper Visitor Center
 
CROWDER PLACE VIA FODDERSTACK RIDGE TRAIL
Driving time:  approx. 1 hour
Distance:  6.8 miles  (in-and-out hike)
Elevation Gain:  Approximately 800 feet

The hike along the Fodderstack Ridge offers great winter views into both the Citico Creek Wilderness and the Joyce Kilmer Slickrock Wilderness.  Following the ridge through forests of hardwood trees, clearings will yield some great winter views, including of Gregory Bald.  Following the downhill trail of Crowder Branch from Fodderstack Ridge, we will reach the old Crowder homestead before turning back.
 
Driving Directions:  To be provided the morning of the hike.
 
Hiking boots and hiking stick(s) are recommended.  Bring ample water and a trail lunch.  Car-pooling is recommended and will be set up the morning of the hike.  Passengers are asked to contribute $6 to the driver to help cover gas, etc.
