Wilderness Week & Hike - Wed., Jan.28, 2014

Wilderness Week 2015 (open link below which includes the classes and seminars), January 24th - January 31st will be here soon, so please mark your calendar.
This is a wonderful event and you can attend any portion of it during the week.
CHANGE OF HOTEL: This year we will be using the Best Western Plaza Inn 3725 Parkway, Pigeon Forge, TN. (865) 453-5538.
Sunday  through Thursday of Wilderness Week, the rate is $44.95 plus tax and Friday and Saturday it is $54.85 plus tax.
When you call the hotel directly 865 453-5538 for reservations tell the reservation clerk that you are a member of the TV Hiking Clubs and this includes those who are members of Muddy Boots and Women's Hiking Club. Please make your reservations by December 31st so the hotel can block the required rooms and there is a 24 hour cancellation policy.
The hotel has an indoor pool and whirlpool spa. All rooms are exterior accessible and it is a short drive from the LeConte Convention Center in Pigeon Forge where Wilderness Week is held. In addition, the hotel offers a Deluxe Continental breakfast. Also, the hotel has made available a large conference room for our Tuesday 5:00 PM social. 

  The TVHC Sugarlands/Best Little Italian restaurant signature hike will take place on Wednesday January 28th (see description below).

Driving Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
For those leaving Tellico Village: Depart Chota Parking at 7:45 AM to meet the at the Sugarland's Visitor Center by 9:30 AM where you will join those who stayed at the hotel the night before.
Distance of Hike: 10 miles
Elevation Gain: Approximately 1100 feet
Rating: Moderate to Difficult (10 miles and elevation)

This hike is the Tellico Village Hiking Club’s annual signature hike which includes lunch at a restaurant in Gatlinburg (approx. 8 miles from the start of the hike to the restaurant). Wear appropriate winter hiking shoes or boots. Many of the hikers for this hike that are staying in Pigeon Forge will meet those hikers at the Sugarland’s Visitor’s Center who are coming from Tellico Village.
