Distance:    8 miles
Rating:  Difficult

This is one of the more lovely and popular trails in the park.  The trail follows the Ramsey Prong of the  Little Pigeon River and passes by many waterfalls and rapids.  It ends at a beautiful 100 foot cascade, the highest waterfall in the Smokies.  We will pass through one of the only old growth forest areas in the park.  Almost all of the Smokies were logged so it is amazing to see the size of the original poplars and imagine the whole of the Smokies forested by such magnificent trees.   Because of the elevation gain and the rocky trail, we have rated this hike as difficult.
